Oracle is a global provider of enterprise cloud computing, empowering businesses of all sizes on their journey of digital transformation. Oracle helps customers develop strategic roadmaps and advance their journey to the cloud from any point: new cloud deployments, legacy environments, and hybrid implementations. 430,000 customers in 175 countries use Oracle technologies to seize business opportunities and solve real, tangible challenges.

Oracle CEO Mark Hurd and Oracle Chairman and Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison are fierce advocates for American tennis. Mark played collegiate tennis at Baylor while juggling a variety of other responsibilities. He believes developing those skills later helped him in the business world.

As a Baylor alumnus, Mark has continued to support the university’s tennis program. The Hurd family has contributed to the renovation of Baylor’s tennis facilities, including the addition of a new scoreboard, redesigned locker rooms and player spaces, and a renovated outdoor facility. In 2011 Baylor named the Hurd Tennis Center in recognition of the Hurd family’s support for tennis at Baylor University.

Both Ellison and Hurd have been instrumental in Oracle’s support for collegiate and professional tennis. Oracle sponsors three tournaments in partnership with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA): the Oracle ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, the Oracle ITA Masters, and the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships. Supporting both up-and-comers in the sport as well as college athletes and junior players, Mark is proud of the ITA partnership, stating, “Our partnership with the ITA gives us another opportunity to invest in college students who are key to Oracle’s future.”

Mark has drawn comparisons between the tennis ecosystem’s need for college players and Oracle’s need for passionate college students to support the growth of both institutions. Oracle also supports collegiate athletes through the Oracle US Tennis Awards, a $100,000 grant awarded to college tennis players to help support their professional careers. Given to students who demonstrate sportsmanship and skill, players Danielle Collins and Mackenzie McDonald were the inaugural recipients of the award in 2017.
