Texan Harrison Adams claimed the first victory of day 2 with a 75 61 win over Colombian Alejandro Gomez. 24-year-old Adams moves to to the Main Draw, which starts tomorrow. This is Adams’ first Oracle Challenger Series event.
Canadian Alexis Galarneau moved past Colombia’s Alejandro Gonzalez in three sets, 36 64 64. Houston marks the 19-year-old’s first Oracle Challenger Series event.
Michael Redlicki is the second and final qualifier to move on to Main Draw action after his 62 62 win over Mexico’s Lucas Gomez. This will be the Chicagoans’ first ever appearance in a Challenger Main Draw.
German Julian Lenz claimed the final spot in the Main Draw with his three set win over Hady Habib: 76 64 64.
American Lauren Davis advances to the Main Draw after her two set win over fellow American Jacqueline Cako, 63 64. 25-year-old Davis had a tough loss in round one of Main Draw play in Chicago and will look to keep her name in the running for the Road to Indian Wells.
Slovak Kristina Kucova had the edge over American Lousia Chirico on Court 5, beating the New York state resident in two sets, 76 64. This is Kuvoca’s first Oracle Challenger Series event.
Hungarian Dalma Galfi eliminated Canadian Katherine Sebov. This marks the 28-year-old’s Oracle Challenger Series debut.
American women celebrated the final wins of the day and will advance to the Main Draw. 16-year-old Whitney Osuigwe defeated Reka-Luca Jani of Hungary 63 64 and will be the youngest player in the Main Draw of the Houston event. After falling in the first set Ann Li came back to beat compatriot Sanaz Marand in three sets, 46 63 63.
The final win of the day was celebrated by Elizabeth Halbauer who, after several rain delays, was about to beat out fellow American Julia Elbaba in just under 3 hours of play – 67(4) 63 64.
